Fresh System Over Bay May Trigger Very Heavy Rain In Odisha Again; Check IMD Forecast

Bhubaneswar: The intensity of rain is likely to increase in Odisha under the influence of a fresh system, which is likely to form over Bay of Bengal by July 31.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Angul and Jajpur on July 31. Heavy rain may also lash one or two places in Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Boudh, Khurda, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Koraput, Malkangiri, Deogarh and Sundargarh.

On August 1, heavy to very heavy rainfall may continue at one or two places in Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Cuttack and Nayagarh districts with  heavy downpour at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Jajpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nawarangpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Bhadrak and Khurda districts.

The intensity of rain is likely to gradually decrease thereafter.

While heavy rain warning continues for Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul and Mayurbhanj on August 2, the weather agency has forecast light to moderate rain/thundershower in North Interior Odisha and coastal districts of the state during the next 2 days.

Prior to this, heavy rainfall may occur at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur on July 29 and at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur on July 30.

The MeT office further stated that Bhubaneswar is likely to experience cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershower during the next 24 hours.
