Chennai: Rajinikanth is back as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian in ‘Jailer 2’, which hit theatres today.
The sequel to the superstar’s 2023 blockbuster has sparked a buzz on social media, with fans sharing their initial reactions to its action sequences, interval twist, background score, cameos and climax.
X user @Vichu13579 shared an early review, praising the film’s interval block, action sequences, flashback portions and cameo.
However, the user also pointed out some pacing issues and felt that the antagonist was not as impactful as the villain in the first instalment.
“#Jailer2 Inside report. 1st Half: Cool Intro 👍 Slow start 😐 Little fun 😀 Mass Interval 🔥. 2nd Half: Mass elevation 🔥 Flashback💥 Cameo 😎 Climax blast 💯. Neg: little lag, Weak villian compare to 1st part. Positive: RK, Cameo, Mass moments. Report = Hit to Blockbuster,” the user wrote.
BFilmy Tweets also shared a positive early reaction, praising the action, humour, songs and background score.
“The film has EVERYTHING a MASS audience wants. NONSTOP ACTION. No breathing space between the set pieces. It is a RAMPAGE. Slow-motion blocks land with mass BGM. There’s a cameo of a superstar. Yes, your guess is right… Comedy works definitely. The BGM is not exceptional this time, except the original, HR-VB theme. In some aspects, doesn’t surpass the original, but it is nothing short of a TREAT. The villain STEALS the show. Songs add another plus point. For Mass audiences and #Rajinikanth fans, the film is nothing short of a FESTIVAL. FINAL VERDICT: SOLID!!” the post read.
MAD… MAD… MAD INTERVAL TWIST 🥵🥵🔥🔥🔥🔥👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
DARK HUMOUR… EVERY CHARACTER HAS EPIC BGM…
RAJINI AND FAMILY… FULL EMOTIONS AND DIALOGUES…

However, not all reactions were favourable. Another X user described Jailer 2 as a forced sequel that follows the first film’s formula. The user also felt that the cameos were less effective than those in the original and called Anirudh Ravichander’s background score routine, advising viewers to keep their expectations low.
“#Jailer2 inside info.. Same Part 1 template, Forced Sequel. ‘Better than #Coolie’. Drama Lovers might feel First half> Cameos are not much affective as part1. Anirudh BGM👍🏻(fire emoji pette antha lev Ani routine) Keep your expectations low,” the user wrote.
Prithvi, who goes by @YoursPrithivi on X, shared his reaction after watching the film at a premiere show.
While praising Rajinikanth’s performance, the story, action sequences and cinematography, he found the second half below average.
#Jailer2 Premiere Show
@rajinikanth’s performance is 🔥 Gd story, avg scrn play, mass action sequences, & excellent DOP. @anirudhofficial’s songs ok but the BGM is 💣
1st hlf is gd, 2nd hlf is below avg Lengthy runtime, weak climax👎Overall: Below Average ⭐ 2.5/5
