Centre Using Guv To Topple Karnataka Govt: Siddaramaiah Who Will Face Prosecution In Land Scam

Bengaluru: After the Karnataka Governor on Saturday granted permission to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in connection with an alleged scam on the allocation of land by the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA), he on Saturday accused the Centre of using Raj Bhavan for politics.

The Chief Minister also claimed that the Congress was supporting him. He alleged it was a conspiracy by the Opposition in the state to topple his elected government.

“The entire Cabinet is with me. The entire high command is with me. All the MLAs and MLCs are standing by my side,” the Chief Minister told reporters. He also claimed innocence.

Earlier in the day, Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot gave his nod to prosecute Siddaramaiah following a complaint filed by RTI activist TJ Abraham. It was Abraham who had flagged the ‘MUDA scam.’ The Governor directed the complainant to meet him at Raj Bhavan at 3 pm on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah said that he would move court to challenge the Governor’s decision. The Congress brass has also supported Siddaramaiah, alleging that the move was a ploy by the BJP and the Centre to target the state government. The party has called for protests.
