Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has warned its employees of stern action for sub-letting their allotted quarters to others.
Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan on Sunday said the General Administration department was preparing a list of the government quarters allotted to the employees. A verification drive would be conducted to ascertain whether the employees were staying in their allotted quarters or not.
“Giving the quarters on rent to others will be considered culpable offence and the employee concerned would face stern action. The purpose of the drive was to ensure that government accommodations are used by the employees,” he added.
The minister also said the government was preparing a detailed plan to identify old and dilapidated structures. Those building would be demolished and new vertical housing projects would come up in those places.
“The vertical housing projects will accommodate nearly two to three times of the government employees and solve their residential problem,” he said.
