Odisha To Have Another Barrage In Mahanadi System; 7 New Schemes Launched

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has chalked out plan for the construction of a new barrage-cum-reservoir in the Mahanadi River system.

Sharing this information in the state Assembly while replying a question on Thursday, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi said that survey work for the proposed project is currently in progress.

Stating that certain information regarding the new project is being shared with several central agencies, the Chief Minister said that the chief engineers concerned have also been asked to take necessary steps.

The CM, while replying another question, informed the House that as many as seven new schemes have been launched after the BJP government took charge, while 21 existing schemes have been renamed so far in the state.

Majhi presented data showing the number of Centrally Sponsored Schemes, state schemes and renamed schemes functioning in the state.

As per the data, the state government has launched seven flagship programmes so far. The new schemes included:

1. Godabarisha Mishra Adarsha Prathamika Vidyalaya

2. Corpus Fund for Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA)

3. Samrudha Krushaka Yojana

4. Subhadra Yojana

5. Madho Singh Haath Kharch Yojana

6. Odia Asmita Corpus Fund

7. Establishment of Pediatric Cancer Facilities

Similarly, the state government has changed the names of 21 existing schemes launched by the previous government.

This apart, several schemes centrally-sponsored schemes are also functioning in the state.
