Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu will attend the 40th convocation of the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) in Bhubaneswar and also inaugurate the new Judicial Court Complex in the city on Thursday, the third day of her visit to the state.
The OUAT campus is all geared up for the President’s visit to the campus. Over 1,000 people including students and teachers and other staff will be present in the convocation ceremony of OUAT, sources said.
President will spend around one hour in the university complex as per her schedule. Thereafter, she will take rest at Raj Bhavan.
In the evening, the President is scheduled to inaugurate the District Judicial Court Complex of Khurdha at Bhubaneswar.
The administration has completed all preparations for the grand inauguration of the judicial complex.
This five-story complex features advanced amenities, including air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, 55 courtrooms, record rooms, a library, a conference hall, and a canteen. Landscaped lawns and water fountains surround the building, adding to its aesthetic appeal. Additionally, the complex offers essential services such as a bank and a post office.
Special care has been taken to ensure the comfort of all visitors. The building includes a healthcare center with a doctor and two nurses, four corridors, and 55 judge chambers. The parking area accommodates approximately 1,000 vehicles, including 500 cars and 700 two-wheelers, with a multi-story parking structure. The basement is reserved for 70 parking spaces dedicated to judges’ vehicles.
Designed with both the public and staff in mind, the complex features restrooms for the public, separate facilities for women, a breastfeeding room, and a crèche. There are also rooms for advocates and staff, two conference rooms, an E-Library, a general library, and a computer room for lawyers to research specific cases.
The construction of the complex began in 2017-18 with an initial budget of ₹98 crore. In 2020, an additional ₹70 crore was allocated to improve parking facilities.
Murmu will pay homage to the statue of B R Ambedkar at AG Chhak in Bhubaneswar on his death anniversary on December 6 and then proceed to Mayurbhanj via Kalaikunda Airport in West Bengal. She will interact with students and villagers of Uparbeda and also engage with students and teachers of Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Rairangpur.
On December 7, Murmu will lay foundation stones or inaugurate several projects, including Tribal Research and Development Centre, Rairangpur; Dandbose Airport, Rairangpur; and Sub-Divisional Hospital, Rairangpur. She will also lay the foundation stones for three major railway line projects: Bangiriposi-Gorumahisani, Buramara-Chakulia, and Badampahar Kendujhargarh Rail Lines, it added.
