Jajpur: A 13-year-old girl alleged eloped with her lover after drugging her family members at Nathuabara village under Kuakhia police limits in Odisha’s Jajpur district.
The girl’s father along with four other family members are undergoing treatment at district headquarters hospital here.
According to sources, the minor girl added sedatives to curry and served it to her family members, including her parents, at dinner on Wednesday night. Soon after consuming the meal, the family members fell unconscious, following which the girl eloped with 24-year-old Deepak Sethi from Siaria Manpur village under Dangadi block in Jajpur district.
This was her second attempt to elope with her lover. She was rescued by the police and her family from Kerala in May last year.
A relative told the media that Deepak had come in a vehicle and they eloped after the girl sedated her family. “She had gone to school yesterday where they met and thatched the plan. She also took away gold and silver ornaments and Rs 22,000 in cash,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kuakhia police launched an investigation to trace the missing girl.
