Govt announces implementation of 7th Pay Panel recommendations
Bhubaneswar: As a Durga Puja gift to its employee and pensioners, the state government on Tuesday announced implementation of the 7th Pay Commission recommendations.
It will benefit around 4.5 lakh government employees and 3.5 lakh pensioners.
“My government has decided to implement the recommendations of the committee constituted for examination of 7th Central Pay Commission report and its adoption for the state government employees,” Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said.
The enhanced emoluments and higher pension would put a burden of Rs 4,500 crore on the state exchequer per annum.
As per the decision, the revised pay will be effective from September and the enhanced salary disbursed on September 26 with holidays beginning the following day.
With the implementation of the recommendations, government employees will now get around 23 per cent hike in salary. However, the government is yet to announce anything related to the arrears.
It may be recalled that the state government had constituted a six-member fitment committee on October 31 under the chairmanship of Development Commissioner, R Balakrishnan, to finalise the modalities to implement the same.
Notably, the Centre is yet to implement the recommendations.
