Police to launch special drive against habitual offenders before puja
Bhubaneswar: In view of the ensuing Durga Puja festivities, the twin cities Commissionerate Police will soon launch a special drive to book habitual offenders.
Stressing the need for ensuring smooth vehicular movement, uninterrupted power supply and security of people, Police Commissioner Y B Khurania said, “Security of public should be the top most priority of police personnel during Durga Puja, Ravana Podi and Bhasani Utsav.”
A preparatory meeting in this regard was held on Tuesday.
“The puja committees have been advised to put in place better electrical and fire safety equipment. They have also been asked to deploy adequate number of volunteers and install CCTV cameras at various locations in and around the puja pandals to keep a strict vigil on mischief mongers,” he added.
Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrat Bhoi, fire personnel, officials of different line departments, senior police officers and puja committee members attended the meeting.
