Private College Bus Overturns In Odisha; Close Shave For Students, Driver Critical

Bhubaneswar: It was a close shave for 40 students of a private college when a bus carrying them overturned near Sindhekela village under Sindhekela police station limits in Odisha’s Balangir district on Sunday.

According to sources, the mishap took place when the driver of the bus lost control over the vehicle while navigating a turn as the students were en route to Bhawanipatna from Khariar to attend a summer course. Following which, it veered off the road and overturned.

Driver was critically injured in the accident while seven students escaped with minor injuries. They have been admitted to Khariar Mission Hospital for treatment.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the sequence of events leading to the accident, which is being attributed to either mechanical failure or excessive speed.
