Meerut: Muskan Rastogi, prime accused in the murder of her husband Saurabh Rajput, a former merchant navy officer, is pregnant.
According to India Today, authorities at the Meerut District Jail have confirmed this after receiving the results of medical tests carried out on her.
Muskan allegedly stabbed Rajput to death on March 4 with the help of her paramour Sahil Shukla. The two are then suspected of chopping up the body into pieces and dumping it into a drum of wet cement. The police had to use electric drills to cut through the cement and get to the body parts.
After the murder, Muskan and Sahil allegedly went on a trip to Himachal Pradesh and used Rajput’s phone to send messages over social media to family and friends, in a bid to mislead them. Investigations so far have revealed that Muskan planned the murder in November 2023 and then manipulated Sahil – a friend of Rajput’s – by posing as his dead mother and sending him messages on snapchat.
After their arrest, Muskan and Sahil were placed in different wards of the jail. They met briefly only on one occasion, but were not allowed to interact with each other.
Authorities have said that pregnancy tests are mandatory for female inmates immediately after their remand. Now that it has been confirmed that Muskan is pregnant, an ultrasonography will be done to check on the health of the foetus.
Both Muskan and Sahil are undergoing rehabilitation to rid them of their addiction to drugs.
