Mumbai: Actors Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh’s on-screen chemistry might be impressive, but off-screen, the duo shared that they can never get along as a couple.
While Ranveer feels that he cannot handle Anushka as a girlfriend as she ‘would kill her boyfriend’, the actress feels that she cannot date someone like Ranveer, who is quite self-obsessed.
During an interview with NDTV in 2011, Anushka revealed, “Ranveer can’t be a boyfriend. He is a very fine guy, very hardworking, but he is quite caught up in himself at the moment—which he should be, it’s his first film, and he’s entering the industry. I understand that, and that’s why I say I can’t ever date him. Many people ask me why we don’t see each other. And I say this is the reason. I want a boyfriend who, at the end of the day, doesn’t just tell me how his day went, but also asks me how my day was—which he’ll never do. So, I cannot date him.”
Reddit users flooded the comment section as soon as the video went viral.
One user wrote, “I love how she was always clear on what type of man she wants in her life”, while another commented: “And she got a husband who asks her if she ate in the middle of his international match.”
Another user wrote, “To cut it short – Anushka is saying Ranveer is self obsessed in her opinion, so she will never date him”.
“I wonder how Deepika handles him, it must be really exhausting to be with a person like that,” wrote another user.
Ranveer made his Bollywood debut opposite Anushka in Maneesh Sharma’s ‘Band Baaja Baaraat.’
The film revolved around wedding planners, Shruti Kakkar (Anushka) and Bittoo Sharma (Ranveer), who went to great lengths to set up their event management business.
The film, which hit theatres on December 10, 2010, left cash registers ringing at the box-office.
On personal front, both, Anushka and Ranveer are now married.
Anushka married cricketer Virat Kohli, and the couple are parents to daughter, Vamika, and son, Akaay.
Ranveer tied the knot with actress Deepika Padukone, and the couple welcomed their daughter, Dua in 2024.
On work front, Anushka was last seen opposite Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Zero.’ Since then, she has taken a break from acting.
Ranveer was last seen in ‘Singham Again’. He will next feature in Aditya Dhar’s ‘Dhurandhar’, also starring R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Sanjay Dutt.
