Srinagar: The Anantnag Police has announced a cash reward of Rs 20 lakh for any information leading to the neutralisation of the terrorists responsible for Pahalgam terror attack. Sketches of three terrorists have already been released.

About 5-6 terrorists are suspected to have been involved in the attack on tourists on Tuesday afternoon that resulted in the death of 26 persons and left several others injured. The victims are from several states across the country, including Odisha, Karnataka, West Bengal, Maharashtra and Gujarat.

While three of the terrorists have been identified as Pakistanis, two are Kashmiris.

The police have announced that the identities of those providing any information about the attackers will be kept confidential. They have also shared the contact numbers of the Senior Superintendent of Police and the Anantnag Police Control Room.

Union home minister Amit Shah visited the attack site at Baisaran near Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday and declared that the nation will never bow to terrorism. He vowed that those behind the heinous act will be brought to justice.

Shah was briefed about the sequence of events and the suspected infiltration routes used by the terrorists to reach Pahalgam. He later visited the injured at Anantnag hospital and met the families of the victims.

After laying wreaths on the coffins bearing the victims, Shah stated on X: “Bharat will not bend to terror. The culprits of this dastardly terror attack will not be spared.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) and took stock of the situation. Shah briefed the meeting after his visit to Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting was also attended by defence minister Rajnath Singh and external affairs minister S Jaishankar, besides National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval.
