CM Majhi also interacted with the grieving family. “…We connected with them (my brother and his family) after a lot of difficulty…When we connected with them, we were told that my brother was fine… But later we were informed that he had been killed in the attack… We got this information when we were at the Delhi airport…” said Satpathy’s sister.

8 tourists from Puri return

Meanwhile, a group of eight tourists, including a child, from Puri, safely returned to Bhubaneswar from Jammu & Kashmir on Thursday. “The whole world is shocked by the Pahalgam terror attack. Seven of our people who are part of our Panchayati Raj system were stranded in Pahalgam. Soon after the terror incident, they contacted us, and we got in touh with LG Manjo Sinha’s office, which helped us arrange their travel to Jammu. From Jammu, they travelled to Delhi, and then to Bhubaneswar. Sadly, we lost one Prashant ji in the incident,” said BJP MP Sambit Patra at Bhubaneswar airport.

Check updates on India’s response to Pahalgam attack: Pak top diplomat summoned

India has summoned Pakistan’s top diplomat, Saad Ahmad Warraich, and handed over a Persona Non Grata note for its military diplomats as families of the Pahalgam terror attack victims called for “severe” action against the terrorists.

1) The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) on Wednesday decided to indefinitely suspend the decades-old Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack in which 26 people, including one foreign national, were killed

2) The integrated Attari checkpost has been closed with immediate effect. Those who have crossed over with valid endorsements may return through that route before May 1, 2025.

3) Pakistani nationals will not be permitted to travel to India under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) visas. Any SVES visas issued in the past to Pakistani nationals are deemed cancelled. Any Pakistani national currently in India under SVES visa has 48 hours to leave India.

4) The Defence, Military, Naval, and Air Advisors in the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi are declared persona non grata. They have a week to leave India. India will also be withdrawing its own Defence, Navy and Air advisors from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. These posts in the respective High Commissions are deemed annulled, signalling a downgrade in military-to-military diplomatic engagement.

5) Overall strength of the High Commissions will be reduced from current 55 to 30.
