New Delhi: Indian cricket head coach and former BJP MP, Gautam Gambhir, has reportedly received a death threat from ‘ISIS Kashmir’ and has filed a formal police complaint on Wednesday.
His office stated that he approached the Delhi Police after receiving the treat and sought measures to safeguard his family’s security.
The Delhi police are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter, reports claimed. Cops will also take appropriate measures to safeguard him and his family member.
Gambir received two threatening emails on April 22, the ANI reported. One of the emails was received in the afternoon, while the other was sent in the evening. Both the emails contained the message ‘IKILLU’.
The Delhi Police has also reacted to the death threat complaint. “We have been informed about an alleged threat mail received on an email ID associated with Gautam Gambhir. The same is being investigated. He is already a Delhi Police protectee, and we do not comment on specific security arrangements,” cops said, as quoted by moneycontrol.
This threat comes at a time when the country is already grieving over the brutal Aprill 22 Pahalgam terror attack, killing at least 26 tourists, mostly Hindu, in the Jammu and Kashmir valley. Reacting to the terror attack, Gambhir had written on X: “Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike.” This is, however, not the first time when he had received a death threat. According to reports, he had received threat in 2021 as well.
