New Delhi: Days after banning 16 Pakistani YouTube channels, the Indian government has disabled social media accounts of Pakistani artists like Hania Aamir and Mahira Khan in the country.
The Instagram handles of Hania, Mahira, Iqra Aziz and Ayeza Khan now say — “Account not available in India. This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content.”
The restriction on the Instagram accounts of Pakistani artists is part of a crackdown on Pakistani digital content in India post the Pahalgam terror attack.
However, India’s decision has left netizens divided, with some happy and others of the view that the government is behaving childish.
One happy user user posted, “Bilkul sahi kiya in logo ka connection har jagah se cut kr dena chaiye ✅”
Another netizen shared, “Great steps by gov or who so ever is making these decisions… Outstanding… Let’s just make Pakistan realise what they are without India’s link to it …”
“Pakistan ka sub Kuch ban kardo permanently 👏,” wrote one person.
A netizen wrote, “Wooww, What a revenge😂😂😂😂.”
A disappointed user responded, “Yeto galat hai yaar 😢😢 itta pyaara padosi hai pak❤️🫶.”
Another person wrote, “Sahi hai jin logo ne attack kiya aap unhe chord ke inpe dhyan dijiye👏👏.”
“Bacho wali harkty 😂,” commented one netizen.
Tthe accounts of other Pakistani artists like Farhan Saeed, Fawad Khan, Atif Aslam are still visible in India.
