Bhubaneswar: Thanks to Odisha weightlifters, India enjoyed a fruitful day on the opening day of the IWF World Youth & Junior Championship 2025 at Lima, the capital of Peru.
The promising Jyoshna Sabar secured a silver and a bronze in girls’ 40 kg weight category, with a total lift of 129 kg (56 kg + 72 kg).
The 16-year-old girl from Gajapati district also clinched silver in the clean and jerk segment.
Harshvardhan Sahu added to the joy of the Indian contingent, claiming two bronze medals in 49 kg youth boys’ event.
Harshavardhan lifted a total of 197 kg (87kg + 110kg) to finish third overall. He added another bronze for his clean and jerk performance.
