Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has identified 36 priority programmes to create significant impact in key sectors by 2036, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi informed on Friday.

“This strategic initiative, termed ‘36 for 36,’ will accelerate Odisha’s development journey. The programmes will be implemented with a whole-of-government approach, covering sectors such as economy, industry, education, health, infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, science and research, innovation, women’s empowerment, rural development, tribal welfare, and promotion of Odia language, culture, and identity,” he said during a state-level ‘Consultative Workshop’ on ‘Vision Odisha 2036 and 2047′.

Majhi said that the Vision Document is a roadmap for the dreams of 4.5 crore Odias and a commitment to future generations prepared by and for the people. “The preparation of the Vision Document is in its final stages, with a draft already prepared. The final document will be finalised after incorporating expert suggestions,” he said.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the Vision 2036 and 2047 document would reflect an ambitious resolve to build a prosperous, developed, and proud Odisha — a ‘Viksit Odisha’ keeping in pace with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (developed nation) by 2047.

“We have received over 3.2 lakh suggestions from Odisha’s citizens and the Odia diaspora. Artificial Intelligence has been used in its preparation, making Odisha the first state in India to analyse public inputs and suggestions using AI for such a document. Letters have also been sent to MLAs and MPs, requesting their valuable inputs based on their extensive experience,” he said.

He added that the process is inspired by the PM’s philosophy of ‘Jan Bhagidari’ (people’s participation). “The state aims to transform Odisha into a $500 billion economy. Steps will be taken to ensure that people at the lowest rung of society have access to all basic amenities by 2036,” he said.

The state-level workshop saw participation from experienced administrators, educationists, public representatives, industry and civil society representatives, and eminent personalities from Odisha’s art, culture, and heritage sectors, who shared their insights and provided suggestions to the state government.

Three more regional workshops will be held in Sambalpur, Balasore, and Jeypore, a CMO release said.

Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Women and Child Development Pravati Parida said that a clear roadmap has been outlined for women’s empowerment in Odisha by 2036, ensuring equal rights and safety for women in all sectors. “Odisha has surpassed its target in creating ‘Lakhpati Didis,’ with around 17 lakh women achieving this status so far,” she added.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, Science and Technology Minister Krushna Chandra Patra, Law, Excise, and Public Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Cooperation, Handlooms, Textiles, and Handicrafts Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta, Industries and Skill Development Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, Ekamra MLA Babu Singh, Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, and Development Commissioner Anu Garg were present, among others.
