New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra, who achieved a historic milestone at Wanda Diamond League in Doha by breaking the 90-metre barrier in his career with a 90.23m javelin throw.
The PM called it a ‘spectacular feat’. “Congratulations to Neeraj Chopra for breaching the 90 m mark at Doha Diamond League 2025 and achieving his personal best throw. This is the outcome of his relentless dedication, discipline and passion. India is elated and proud,” he posted on X.

“It’s a bit of a bittersweet result. I’m very happy to finally cross the 90m mark, but finishing second — that’s happened to me before, like in Turku and Stockholm, where I threw 89.94m and still placed second. Even today, I broke the national record but ended up second. Still, I’m really happy for Julian Weber. He threw 91m, and it was the first time both of us broke 90m. We’ve been chasing this for years, so it feels great to finally achieve it,” he said.
