Puri: Akash Ambani, Director of Reliance Industries Limited, offered prayers at Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri late last night.
He also sought blessings of the Lords for the success of his team Mumbai Indians in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
According to sources, the elder son of businessman Mukesh Ambani entered the 12th-century shrine came shortly after the completion of the last Banakalagi ritual of the sibling deities ahead of Rath Yatra. He was welcomed by the family priest, Jagannath Kar. He took part in the aarti and witnessed the revered Bada Singhar Besha.
He was later presented with a Khandua, a sacred handwoven cloth, near the Singhadwara.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration and Odisha Police had made arrangements to control crowds and facilitate a seamless darshan.
In April last year, Akash’s younger brother Anant Ambani had visited Puri and paid obeisance at the Jagannath Temple. This was Anant’s second visit to the 12th-century shrine ahead of his marriage with Radhika Merchant.
