Bhubaneswar: After being lashed by heavy rain in last few days under the impact of a low-pressure, Odisha is now set to experience hotter days from Sunday.
While there will be no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) during next 24 hours, the mercury is likely to rise by 2 to 4 degree Celsius in subsequent 5 -6 days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the low-pressure area which had move to areas over northeast Assam and neighbourhood has become less marked. However, the associated cyclonic circulation persists over the same region and extends up to 3.1 km above mean sea level, it said.
The weather agency also stated that thunderstorm activity and rain may continue in different parts of the state over the next few days. It issued a yellow warning for different districts for the next two days.
Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph and heavy rain may occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangapur, Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh by Sunday morning.
Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal districts during the period.
On June 1 and 2, thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak.
