Three More Minor Girls Found Pregnant After Rape In Odisha
Kalahandi/Dhenkanal/Jajpur: In yet another shameful incident after Kandhamal
district in Odisha, a minor girl studying in Class-VIII at a residential school in
Narla under Thuamula Ramapur block in Kalahandi had reportedly taken
abortion pills after being pregnant for eight weeks. She became critical after that
and was admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital on January 14. According to
sources, the girl is a native of Sheikhpura in Bihar. Her family members took her
to Bihar after treatment. The district administration has started investigation into
the matter, said the sources. The accused in the case has yet to be found.
In a similar incident, a Class-VIII student of a residential school in Dhenkanal
district was found pregnant. Headmaster of the residential school, Janardhan Samal
in Sadar block of Dhenkanal has lodged a complaint at the Sadar Police Station in
this regard.
According to sources, the girl had gone to a relative’s house. She was critical after
she returned to the hostel. She was admitted to a local hospital and was found
pregnant upon medical examination. Investigation into the matter is on.
In another incident, a 14-year-old girl and her newborn baby were rescued in
Baghuapal village under Kalinganagar police limits in Jajpur on Friday. They
were rushed to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in a critical condition.
According to sources, a complaint had been lodged a few months earlier that the
girl was raped on the pretext of marriage. The police have started investigation
into the incident.
Both the mother and the newborn will get financial help from Red Cross fund
for the treatment, said the sources.
