Cuttack: In a major crackdown on illegal arms trade, the Commissionerate Police busted an organised racket with the arrest of six persons and seizure of a huge quantity of arms and ammunition in Cuttack city.
Acting on a credible information regarding the possession of firearms and ammunition by a notorious criminal, a police team conducted a raid at a site in Malgodown area of the city.
During the raid, the police team arrested a total of six arms dealers. The operation also led to the seizure of five firearms and 13 rounds of live ammunition.
According to police sources, the accused persons have multiple criminal cases registered across various police stations.
The arrests mark a major step in curbing organized crime and arms trafficking in the region.
The crackdown is part of an intensified drive against interstate criminal syndicates.
Investigation is in progress to ascertain the network’s reach and possible connections to other illegal activities.
