Bhubaneswar: It was a narrow escape for the occupants of a car after the vehicle slipped into the Kushabhadra River on the Puri-Konark Marine Drive on Saturday.
As per information, the vehicle belonged to Cuttack Sadar Block Development Officer (BDO) Pratik Sahu. Both Sahu and his wife were inside the car when the mishap took place near Ramachandi Temple.
Eyewitnesses said the car accidentally slipped into the river while the BDO was trying to park the vehicle on Bela Marg. The vehicle was swept away by the current.
On being informed, a team of Fire Service rushed to the site. Prompt action by the team led to the successful rescue of the BDO and his wife.
Both were immediately taken to a health facility at Konark, where they received primary treatment and were later discharged. The couple had reportedly planned to stay at Lotus Resort close to Ramachandi Temple.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the incident and have advised caution when parking near riverbanks, especially during the monsoon season.
