Three Girls Thrashed With Belt At Cinema Hall In Odisha Capital
Bhubaneswar: A man allegedly thrashed three girls with his belt at the parking lot of Keshari Cinema Hall under Kharavel Nagar police limits here on Monday.
The accused has been identified as Sujan Das (22) of Dumduma.
According to sources, the incident took place when girls were returning home after watching the movie ‘Manikarnika’.
The man was taking out his motorcycle and it reportedly brushed against the two-wheeler of a girl, who was accompanied by her two friends.
There was a heated argument between the girl and the accused, following which he thrashed the girls with his belt.
Kharavel Nagar police arrested the man and he will be produced in the court on Tuesday.
A few days back, a journalist of an Odia daily was allegedly attacked at Maharaja Cinema hall for opposing a group of Utkal University students, who were allegedly passing lewd comments on women.
The victim, identified as Kapilendra Pradhan, sustained multiple injuries. He was admitted to Capital Hospital and discharged after primary treatment.
Pradhanalleged that he was beaten up by 10-12 students of Utkal University inside the movie hall as he was trying to stop the boys from passing vulgar comments on women who were watching a film.
Notably, the three youths were arrested on Sunday after a delegation of editors and senior journalists met DGP Dr R P Sharma and demanded stringent action against the culprits.
