Sambalpur: Normal life was crippled in response to the
dawn-to-dusk Rairakhol bandh called by Maa Laxmi Pratibesi Mahila
Samiti demanding piped water supply to their locality.
While most of the shops, markets and business establishments remained shut, vehicles stayed off the road owing to the bandh call.
“The local residents are facing drinking water problem since long. It is regretful that no heed has been paid to our demand despite repeated requests to the district administration. We demand that piped drinking water be supplied to our locality directly from
the Mahanadi river,” an agitating woman said.
