Bhubaneswar: An CISF jawan from Odisha is among the casualties in the flash floods caused by a massive cloudburst, which struck Kishtwar area in Jammu and Kashmir on August 14.
According to sources, Manoj Biswal, a resident of Manikmara village under Parjang police limits in Dhenkanal, died when the camp where he was staying was destroyed in a sudden cloudburst. His body was recovered around 1 pm on Saturday.
He was posted in Kashmir on deputation about two months ago.
The cloudburst occurred at around 12.30 pm in the Chashoti area of Kishtwar when Manoj was reportedly resting after duty hours. At least 60 people were killed and more than 100 injured as the floods that followed swept away an entire locality.
A pall of gloom descended on the village after the family was informed about his death. His mortal remains have reportedly reached Delhi and will be brought to his village for the last rites.
His younger brother, Deepak Biswal, is also serving with CISF at Mundali. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
