New Delhi: More than 200 passengers bound for Singapore on Air India Flight AI-2380 were asked to deboard after being confined for almost two hours aboard a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, after a fault in the aircraft’s air-conditioning system, at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi.
The aircraft was scheduled to depart around 11:00 pm on Wednesday night, but passengers were made to remain seated for nearly two hours before being asked to leave the plane and move into the terminal.
Several travellers took to social media sharing videos and images showing passengers fanning themselves using airline magazines and newspapers. One user tweeted:
“Passengers onboard Delhi-Singapore flight AI2380 have been suffering without AC for around 1.5 hrs also the electricity in the cabin has gone. People are forced to use papers as fans. We are getting roasted here… pls help. Pathetic.”
As of the latest reports, Air India has not issued a statement regarding the incident.
This is not the first time such mishaps have occurred. A few months ago, an Air India Express flight from Jaipur to Dubai was stranded for five hours without air conditioning, prompting criticism after a passenger’s video went viral.
