Bhubaneswar: Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy has convened an all-party meeting on September 16 ahead of the monsoon session of the House.
Sources said the meeting aims to discuss ways to ensure the smooth functioning of the Assembly Session during the monsoon session scheduled to commence from September 18.
The office of the Assembly Speaker had already released the schedule and agenda for the upcoming session. The week-long session, slated to continue up to September 25, is likely to be stormy over a number of burning and sensitive issues.
During the meeting called before the session, the Speaker will hold discussions with leaders of all political parties adopt a positive approach in the House. She is likely to seek the cooperation from all parties for smooth running of the proceedings without disruption.
Notably, the Chief Secretary has issued instructions to all departments to provide accurate and timely responses to questions raised in the Assembly. Departmental secretaries have been asked to give personal attention to this matter, ensuring that all answers are thorough and well-prepared.
