Bhubaneswar: Around a month after announcing One-Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme for traffic rule violators to settle pending dues, the Odisha government has issued a fresh notification listing reduced rate of fines for various offences.
The notification issued by the Commerce and Transport Department has laid down substantial relief for vehicle owners who have pending e-challans for Motor Vehicle Act violations.
Under this scheme, defaulters will be eligible for a 50% reduction of fines for traffic violations committed on or before July 31, 2025.
The scheme applies to various offences under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
However, challans for which prosecution reports have already been submitted to designated courts are not eligible for this scheme.
This initiative aims to encourage safer driving habits and efficiently recover outstanding fines. Vehicle owners can settle their pending fines at a reduced rate, avoiding future complications and legal action.
“In continuation to this Department Notification No.11521 dt.17.09.2025, and in exercise of powers conferred under sub-section (1) of Section 200 of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (32 of 2019) the State Government do hereby direct that, the offences committed on or before 31/07/2025 and punishable under the following sections of the MV Act 1988 may be compounded, on payment of compounding fee as prescribed below,” the notification stated.
