Berhampur: In a fresh development in lawyer Pitabas Panda murder case in Odisha’s Berhampur, police have taken four accused on remand for two days for custodial interrogation as part of investigation.
According to sources, Uma Shankar Bisoi, Chintu Pradhan, Kurupati Bhuyan, and Yogendra have been taken on two-day remand for further questioning by the police. A face-to-face interrogation may be undertaken with the accused to extract information.
Notably, five witnesses took part in a test identification (TI) parade earlier to identify eight accused in two phases. The TI parade report was received on Thursday. However, the witnesses had identified only two of the accused, Kurupati Bhuyan and Chintu Pradhan, out of the eight. The TI parade report has been submitted to the SDJM court.
In the first phase of the TI parade held at Berhampur Circle jail, two witnesses attempted to identify five accused – Shishupal Kumar Pashtan, Simanchal Nayak, Kundan Kumar, Bipin Swain, and Uma Shankar Bisoi. However, they failed to identify anyone. In the second phase, the witnesses identified Chintu Pradhan and Kurupati Bhuyan out of the accuse
