Berhampur: One person was killed and two others sustained critical injuries after a private ambulance collided head-on with an SUV on Digapahandi–Dengaushta main road in Odisha’s Ganjam district early on Tuesday.
As per preliminary information, the mishap took place near Kapamandi when a Bolero vehicle reportedly collided with a private ambulance coming from Gajapati Patra. The deceased has been identified as Lalita Nayak of Kashipur in Rayagada district.
Sources said Lalita was returning home in the Bolero from a hospital in Cuttack along with her sister and nephew after receiving treatment when the accident took place. While Lalita reportedly died on the spot, her sister and nephew sustained serious injuries.
The injured were immediately rushed to Digapahandi Hospital and later referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital at Berhampur for advanced medical treatment.
On being informed, a team of Digapahandi police reached the accident site soon after the incident and launched a probe.. The body was recovered and sent for post-mortem.
