The 38-year-old comedian made the revelation during a live performance in Hyderabad.

In an emotional address to his audience, Zakir, who is known for his wry humour, shared that he intends to step away from the rigorous touring schedule to focus on his health and personal well-being.

“I’m going on a long, long break. Probably till 2028-29, or even 2030,” Zakir said.

Expressing gratitude to his fans for their support over the years, Zakir said they are “very close to my heart”.

The comedian’s Papa Yaar India will continue till mid-2026, with a lesser number of shows.

Zakir later posted a message on Instagram stories after arriving in Dubai, saying that his last show will be on June 20.

“Every show is a celebration till June 20. I won’t be able to come to many cities this time, so please make a little extra effort and come to the shows. Thank you for all the love,” he wrote.

Active in the stand-up comedy scene for over a decade, Zakir has previously hinted at health issues arising from his hectic and demanding schedule of multiple shows daily, frequent travel, sleepless nights, and irregular meals.

Fans across social media have reacted with a mix of support and concern, while wishing him a full recovery.
