Mumbai: Actor Amitabh Bachchan’s Mumbai residence, Jalsa, received a fresh bomb threat via email on Friday, marking the second such threat in two weeks.
Police searched the bungalow following the alert but found nothing suspicious, officials said.
According to the police, the email was also marked to the Bombay High Court and Mahalaxmi Racecourse. An investigation is underway to verify the threat, trace the email’s origin and identify the sender.
Bachchan had received a similar threat email earlier on October 23. The message, which was also marked to Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde and Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi, warned of a grenade attack on a school on October 31.
It also threatened to target the actor’s Juhu residence between October 31 and November 27.
The email also made references to ‘Khalistan’ and claimed that an attack was being planned during singer Diljit Dosanjh’s November 27 concert in the Mahalaxmi Racecourse area.
Following the threat, the 84-year-old actor greeted fans from behind a bulletproof glass shield during his customary Sunday appearance outside Jalsa.
His son, actor Abhishek Bachchan, and security personnel were also present as he waved to the gathering from an elevated platform.
