Puri: Police have issued a comprehensive traffic advisory ahead of the Magha Saptami and Chandrabhaga Buda festival in Odisha’s Konark, scheduled for January 24 and 25.
With thousands of devotees and tourists expected to gather for a holy dip at Chandrabhaga, the measures announced by the Puri Police aim to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety throughout the event.
Buses:
For buses, tourist vehicles traveling from Puri toward Konark, Astarang and Kakatpur via Marine Drive will be permitted up to Ramchandi Temple Crossing. These buses will park behind Ramachandi Police Station.
Once the route is full, additional buses will be lined up in an orderly fashion along the road toward Puri. Passenger buses commuting between Astarang, Kakatpur, Konark and Puri will follow designated routes via Gop Bazar and Balighai, maintaining the same path for return journeys.
Buses arriving from Bhubaneswar will utilise Helipad, Ring Road, and IOCL parking areas. After 7 PM or during heavy congestion, they will be stopped at Konark College Crossing and parked in the college ground or along the road toward Junei Chhaka. Until 7 pm buses from Bhubaneswar will be allowed up to the Municipality and IOCL bus stands.
4-Wheelers:
Four-wheelers and three-wheelers from Puri via Marine Drive will be allowed up to Ramchandi Temple Crossing, with parking available near the temple. Overflow vehicles will be parked along the road toward Puri. Vehicles from Bhubaneswar will first use Helipad parking, followed by IOCL, Hospital Ground, Museum, and Konark College field as needed. In case of congestion near Ramchandi, tourist LMVs from Puri will be diverted via Balighai Chhaka and Gop Bazar to Helipad and other designated parking zones. Government vehicles, dignitaries and emergency services from Puri will be allowed up to Chandrabhaga Parking.
2-Wheelers:
Two-wheelers from Puri will be permitted up to Chandrabhaga Marine Police Station Crossing and parked along the road toward Wildlife Sanctuary Crossing. Those arriving from Bhubaneswar will use Helipad, IOCL, and Museum parking areas designated for bikes.
To facilitate movement, shuttle services will operate between Ramchandi Crossing and Chandrabhaga Marine PS, as well as between Helipad Parking and the Light House. Authorities have urged all attendees to follow the traffic guidelines and cooperate with police personnel to ensure a safe and organized celebration.
