Mumbai: Chandra Kumar Bose, grandnephew of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, has objected to the teaser of Prabhas’ upcoming film ‘Fauzi’, alleging that it distorts historical facts.
He has urged the makers to take down the teaser and release a revised version, expressing hope that Prabhas will take note of his concerns.
The controversy began after socio-political leader Suparno Satpathy, great-grandson of writer Kalindi Charan Panigrahi and grandson of former Odisha Chief Minister Nandini Satpathy, shared the teaser on X (formerly Twitter), along with his views on the film.
“Dear @hanurpudi Garu, describing in one word this teaser is ‘goosebumps’ … Mixing fiction with history isn’t a good idea …nevertheless, best wishes are for the release on 19 Mar ‘2027. Netaji Zindabad!! Jai Hind!!…SS,” Satpathy wrote.
Bose subsequently reposted Satpathy’s post, calling for the teaser’s removal over what he described as historical distortion.
“Mixing fiction with history is a crime. I hope @hanurpudi and his team @fauzithemovie / @MythriOfficial pull down this teaser, put out a new one and make sure that history is not distorted,” he wrote.
He added, “Hope #Prabhas too gets to read this.”

While Bose did not directly respond to claims by Prabhas’ fans that ‘Fauzi’ is a work of fiction, Satpathy addressed the argument in a separate post on X.
Replying to a post that questioned why people connected to the historical figures portrayed in the film had taken offence, Satpathy wrote, “Dear Editor (s) @TheAakashavaani, when a movie is made it impacts generations. Netaji ‘s endorsement of a fictional character is depicting History in a distorted manner. Your’s truly hopes for @hanurpudi Garu to realise the sensitivity …Netaji Zindabad !! Jai Hind !! … SS.”
The makers of ‘Fauzi’ released a new video titled ‘File No. 25’ on October 23, marking Prabhas’ 47th birthday.
The video introduces his character against the backdrop of 1942 Berlin, depicting Subhas Chandra Bose seeking Adolf Hitler’s assistance in the fight against British colonial rule.
When Hitler suggests that Indians are accustomed to servitude, Bose responds angrily, citing an Indian superspy who helped Japan defeat the British and capture Singapore.
He also reveals that the spy developed a secret code inspired by the Bhagavad Gita and is currently stationed in Calcutta.
The video concludes with Prabhas appearing dishevelled, smoking a cigarette and firing a massive gun at an unseen target.
