Cuttack: Actor Satyaki Misra met Cuttack DCP Rishikesh Khilari on Monday and sought protection for his family over alleged death threats linked to prolonged feud over ancestral property and ownership of business in the city.
The conflict revolves around Cuttack Student Store, a bookstore, publishing house, and retail outlet at Balubazar.
According to Misra, the business was founded by his grandfather and later inherited by his father. He has accused his two paternal cousins, Sabyasachi Misra and Soumitri Misra, of attempting to illegally seize control of the establishment. The situation escalated on the evening of February 6, when the accused forcibly entered his residence, verbally abused his 84-year-old father, Nrusingha Prasad Misra, and misbehaved with female members of his family while issuing explicit threats to kill him.
Following which, he lodged a complaint at Purighat police station. He moved the DCP against alleged police inaction in the case. “I told the DCP that I was being pressured to compromise. But this will only embolden them. I am unwell and not in a position to face them,” he told the media, expressing apprehensions for his family’s well-being.
The accused cousins have not issued any public response to the allegations.
