Lucknow: Slain gangster Mukhtar Ansari’s close aide Shoaib Kidwai aka Bobby was shot dead in broad daylight by unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants on the Ayodhya highway in Barabanki on Friday afternoon.
The incident took place near Asaini under the Kotwali area when Shoaib was travelling from Lucknow to Barabanki. Two bike riders intercepted his car and opened fire.
Multiple shots were fired indiscriminately from close range.
Shoaib was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.
Shoaib faces several criminal cases, including murder, extortion and gang-related offences.
Senior officers visited the crime scene and examined the location, while CCTV footage from nearby areas is being reviewed to identify the attackers.
According to Superintendent of Police Arpit Vijayvargiya, initial investigation suggests the attack was premeditated.
Police are yet to hunt down the suspects.
