Bhubaneswar; Over 7.68 lakh names were removed from the state’s voters list during a recent revision exercise, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi informed the Odisha Assembly on Monday.

According to the CM, 7,68,521 duplicate and ineligible entries were found with 1,55,318 holding multiple voter ID cards. While 2,03,396 voters were deleted due to death, 4,08,132 were removed for migration or shifting and 2,646 for other reasons. Sundargarh led with the highest number of deletions at 1,44,726, followed by Cuttack (74,881),
Ganjam (47,989), Angul (37,927) and Puri (36,679).

He further informed that 5,67,034 fresh applications to enrol new voters were received between January 2025 to March 2026.

Sharing the figures for those 14 months while responding to a question from Athagarh MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain. Majhi emphasised that the exercise has made the voter list “more accurate and credible,” enhancing public trust in the democratic process.

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in the state would commence from April 1.
