Cuttack: A young woman died after allegedly falling from a three-storey building in Badambadi area of Odisha’s Cuttack city late on Tuesday.
The deceased belonged to Jagatsinghpur district and was staying at a mess in Cuttack for work. She was working at a private educational institute in Naraj.
According to police sources, the incident took place at around 11.30 pm when the woman was talking over the phone on the terrace. Since the terrace was open and lacked any walls or railings for protection, it is suspected that she might have accidentally slipped and fallen. The woman sustained critical injuries after the fall and was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Speaking to the media, Cuttack DCP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo said Badambadi police immediately reached the spot on receiving the information. “The body was found near a high-rise building. Her family has brought some allegations. We are examining the footage of nearby CCTV cameras and the inmates of the mess are being questioned. A scientific team also visited the spot. Her mobile has been seized and will be sent for analysis to determine her call records,” he said.
The open terrace could be a reason, but police are investigating the matter from all angles, including any possible foul play in her death, the DCP added.
