New Delhi: The death of a 30-year-old judicial officer in the national Capital has stunned the fraternity.
Aman Kumar Sharma, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in North-East Delhi at Karkardooma court, was found dead in the bathroom of his Green Park home in south Delhi.
Initial findings suggest it’s a case of suicide as no sign of foul play has emerged so far.
A native of Rajasthan’s Alwar, Aman had called his father, advocate Prem Kumar Sharma, two days earlier and said he no longer wanted to live.
“It’s impossible to live now,” Aman had told his dad during what turned out to be his final phone call.
According to the family, Aman was greatly disturbed after his wife allegedly insulted his father. He apparently could not tolerate the humiliation and took the extreme step.
Aman was allegedly subjected to mental harassment by his wife and her family. Aman’s family claimed that his sister-in-law, an IAS officer posted in Jammu, instigated his wife, leading to an escalation in tensions. It was also said that another relative from his wife’s side was present in the house at the time of the incident.
On Saturday afternoon, Aman allegedly took a stool and hanged himself using a shawl.
His father, who had rushed to Delhi after getting his last call, was outside the room and claimed to have heard shouting from inside. Aman and his wife were allegedly arguing at the time.
Aman’s wife left the house with their two children after the incident.
The body has been sent for autopsy even as police are conducting a probe, and are speaking to family members and close associates to establish the sequence of events leading to the incident.
