Nayagarh: In a setback to Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Nayagarh Block Chairman Kishore Sahu resigned from the regional party amid speculation that he is likely to join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Sources said Sahu has tendered his resignation from the primary membership of BJD citing personal reason. He has sent his resignation letter to BJD president Naveen Patnaik.
With a strong base in politics at the grassroots level in Odisha’s Nayagarh, Sahu had become Sarpanch of Bhatsahi Panchayat in 2017. After being elected as a samiti member in 2021, he became Block Chairman.
His wife is now the Sarpanch of Bhatsahi. Sahu operates a transport business in Keonjhar and Talcher areas of Odisha.
While Sahu declined to spell out his future political plan, speculations are rife that he may join the ruling BJP soon.
