Mumbai: First it was ‘The Kashmir Files’. Then came ‘The Bengal Files’. Now, brace for another ‘Files’ movie.
It’s ‘The Maharashtra Files’ we are talking about, which will hit theatres on May 29.
There are two basic differences, though, from the previous two ‘Files’. This one’s a Marathi film, not a Hindi movie. Also, Vivek Agnihotri is not the director this time.
The trailer of ‘The Maharashtra Files’ was unveiled on May 18, giving viewers an idea of the story and content.
Directed by Sanjivkumar Rathod, the film looks to be a politically-charged drama with corruption, land acquisition and abuse of power being the main themes.
‘The Maharashtra Files’ features an ensemble cast including Mangesh Desai, Usha Nadkarni, Sayaji Shinde and Nagesh Bhosale. One of the attractions of the film will the presence of the popular Sunny Leone.
Sapna Chaudhary and Gautami Patil will also be seen in the movie.
The trailer, nearly three minutes long, reveals that a proposed 40-km four-lane national highway project is the trigger for a political and social conflict. As we see in many parts of the country, farmers are seen fighting to protect their lands as politicians, officials and influential businessmen try to manipulate the system for personal gains.
