Bhubaneswar: The State Cabinet on Wednesday approved the establishment of the Odisha State Data Centre 2.0 (OSDC 2.0) project at an estimated cost of Rs 268.44 crore to strengthen the state’s digital governance infrastructure.
The project includes the establishment of a Tier-III compliant, secure, scalable and state-owned data centre to meet the growing digital service requirements of the government, Chief Secretary Anu Garg told reporters after the Cabinet meeting.
The existing State Data Centre, operational since 2011, currently hosts more than 600 government applications serving 39 state government departments.
With the present infrastructure nearing the end of its lifecycle and facing capacity constraints, the government has decided to set up the upgraded facility.
The OSDC 2.0 project will involve migration of existing applications, enhancement of cybersecurity measures and creation of a robust Disaster Recovery facility to ensure high availability and resilience of critical government services.
The new data centre will also adopt green and energy-efficient practices in line with the state’s sustainability goals.
The approved project cost of Rs 268.44 crore includes the establishment of the facility as well as its operation and maintenance for five years.
