Mumbai: The latest promo for ‘Lock Upp 2’ has teased a new wild card entry, prompting fans to speculate that social media personality Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as The Rebel Kid, could be the mystery contestant entering the show.
In the now-viral promo, a woman is seen being escorted into the ‘Lock Upp’ house in handcuffs by members of the show’s team. Introducing the mystery contestant, host Farah Khan says, “Please welcome the most disruptive gang leader. Our latest wild card.”
With the contestant’s face blurred to conceal her identity, the promo has only intensified speculation among fans.
Many viewers pointed out that the mystery contestant appears to be wearing jewellery similar to Apoorva’s and also sports a tattoo resembling the influencer’s.
While the makers are yet to officially confirm Apoorva’s participation, fans are already speculating about the drama her presence could bring to the reality show.
Many are also predicting an explosive face-off between Apoorva and fellow digital creators Sufi Motiwala and Shreya Kalra.
Apoorva and Shreya had previously appeared together on a Netflix reality show. Following their stint on the show, Shreya claimed during a podcast appearance that Apoorva was not interested in performing the tasks. Apoorva later addressed those comments on social media.
Apoorva also participated in another reality show, ‘Traitors’, where she shared a close friendship with Sufi Motiwala. However, the two later had a public fallout after the show concluded, adding another layer of intrigue to the possibility of Apoorva’s entry into ‘Lock Upp 2’.
Earlier, Sufi addressed the fallout in a lengthy Instagram post. He wrote, “No more lies. I’ve received a lot of texts saying that I’ve taken clout from Apoorva, and I’ve left her. I’ve literally never collaborated on a reel with her and have been on her YouTube twice, both of which were her content pieces entirely. So no, I’m not sorry I didn’t use her for clout. In case you forgot, we were on the same show without knowing each other. I don’t need her clout. I wanted to be friends with Apoorva, not The Rebel Kid. When there was no accountability constantly for how I was being treated, I distanced myself.”
He added, “I even requested her to ask her audience to calm down because they’ve been abusing me for no reason. Sadly, this person who called me her best friend has no concern for that, or the fact that maybe I’m hurt. THAT is why I’m not friends with her anymore. Keep it cute, keep it moving.”
Reacting to the new promo and the growing speculation, one fan wrote, “Rebel Kid enters the game.”
Another fan commented, “She will eat Shilpa and Shreya.”
One more fan wrote, “It will be Sufi vs Rebel Kid.”
