Mumbai: Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has left fans worried after sharing a deeply personal and philosophical note on his official blog about undergoing surgery, a stay in the ICU, and the difficulties of returning home.
The post, dated July 20-21, from Jalsa in Mumbai, comes just a day after he continued his tradition of greeting fans outside his residence.
In the blog, Bachchan wrote: “.. in Hospital in a surgery and in the ICU, under the care of proficient Doctors and medical Staff .. a discharge .. and a homecoming .. this homecoming period is the most difficult phase .. physically, psychologically and practically. You are a revered Champion and one day a defeat stares at you .. this is the most difficult phase of your life.”
He concluded on a note of resilience and acceptance: “.. some brave it .. some succumb .. they that strive and be brave ever remain Champions .. they that do not, get reconciled and live, exist in the past glory. A choice each makes individually. Nothing wrong with either. Be well, be happy.”
Fans quickly flooded social media and comment sections with messages of concern, many unsure whether the veteran star was referring to his own experience or speaking generally. One commenter hoped it was not about Bachchan himself and prayed for a speedy recovery, while others urged him to follow doctors’ advice and continue his champion spirit.
Soon after the blog post, Bachchan shared a cryptic update on X (formerly Twitter): “T 5806 – The game has ended! But the work is still going on.” This added to the speculation while also signalling his ongoing commitment to work.
This is not the first time health rumours have swirled around the actor. In May 2026, reports of hospitalisation for stomach-related issues circulated, but sources clarified it was a routine monthly check-up at Nanavati Hospital, after which he returned home and was seen driving and active the next day.
Despite health challenges over the years, Bachchan remains professionally active. He has been shooting for Kalki 2898 AD’s sequel directed by Nag Ashwin, reprising his role as Ashwatthama alongside Prabhas and Kamal Haasan. The first film was a major blockbuster, and the sequel is progressing at a rapid pace, with expectations of a December 2027 release. Reports indicate Sai Pallavi may step in for Deepika Padukone, though details remain unconfirmed.
