New Delhi: Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut has praised the Delhi Police for handling the CJP’s Chalo Sansad protest, claiming that MPs inside Parliament felt scared during the demonstration.
When Kangana, who had earlier criticised the protest and the CJP’s march, was questioned about the alleged lathi-charge on protesters, she recalled how MPs were asked to remain inside the Parliament complex amid concerns over the situation outside.
Speaking to the media stationed outside Parliament, she said, “All parliamentarians were inside the House. We were all scared. The gates were also closed. We couldn’t move even after Parliament was adjourned. Mob attack karte hue aa raha tha. We got scared, thinking that the mob might attack us. I appreciate the Delhi Police for playing the role of a shield, not letting people get harmed.”

Earlier on Monday, while speaking to the media, she had said, “Our Parliamentary sessions are meant specifically for us to discuss all issues in an extensive and detailed manner.”
She added, “Creating a ruckus, causing disruptions, and protesting in this manner is not right. The people have elected a government, and it is their right to decide how to run it. If you feel so strongly, you should stand for election yourself. You cannot arm-twist the government into deciding who to sack and who to retain; this kind of arm-twisting is not acceptable. Gradually, everyone will seek refuge in the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Sanatan culture because this is our own culture, whereas everything else has been borrowed from the rest of the world.”
Meanwhile, veteran actor Shabana Azmi joined protesters at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Sunday, July 19, as they demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Her visit came shortly after she voiced her support for climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who joined the CJP-led protest and began an indefinite hunger strike on June 28.
Prakash Raj and Poonam Pandey were among the other celebrities spotted at the protest site.
Several other prominent names, including Soni Razdan, Zeenat Aman, Abhay Deol, Sonakshi Sinha, Omi Vaidya, Imran Khan, Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah, had earlier taken to social media to extend their support to Wangchuk and the ongoing hunger strike.
