Mumbai: Amid nationwide protests over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, ZEE5 has announced its upcoming series ‘The Scam: Leaked’.

The show appears to explore the dark realities surrounding paper leaks, student suicides and the struggles faced by aspirants caught in the country’s examination system.

On Wednesday, ZEE5 unveiled a 1-minute-9-second teaser, offering a glimpse into the series and setting the stage for a story centred on the examination system and the challenges faced by students.

Announcing the new series, ZEE5 wrote, “One paper. Millions of dreams. One leak. A nation in disbelief.”

The post further read, “The Scam: Leaked, Coming Soon on ZEE5.”

The teaser was released without revealing the names of the series’ director, cast or crew. However, ZEE5 tagged filmmakers Sameer S Redij, Anand Singh, Pragati Deshmukh and Balwinder Singh Janjua in its social media post.

The teaser opens with question papers being printed under tight security. After being marked “confidential”, the papers are sealed and packed into cartons.

However, before the cartons can be loaded into vehicles, one of the papers is leaked. A person is seen photographing the question paper and circulating it, triggering widespread chaos.

The teaser then shifts to media coverage of the leak, capturing students’ reactions and showing empty classrooms. It ends on an emotional note, with a student receiving a call from his father, but by then, it appears to be too late. Further details about the show are yet to be revealed.

The teaser also drew reactions from social media users, with many commenting on the timing of the announcement.

“Man…that was so hard hitting. I will watch this movie definitely before it is removed,” commented a user on YouTube, apparently referring to how Diljit Dosanjh’s Satluj was removed from the platform within two days.

“Perfect series for current situation,” wrote another.

“This is well needed to open up the eyes of Indian youth,” commented one user.

“ZEE5 team understands algorithm,” joked another.

Another wrote, “The timing… damn!”

Some users also questioned whether Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the “Cockroach Janata Party” would feature in the series.

“Problem ke solution se pehli movie aagayi. Wahh re India. (Before finding a solution to the issue, a movie is releasing. Good job, India),” one user wrote sarcastically.

Check out the teaser here:

The CJP, activist Sonam Wangchuk and students from across India have been calling for Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over the alleged NEET paper leak.

The agitation, which began at Jantar Mantar, intensified with the ‘Chalo Sansad’ march on July 20.

The alleged use of lathis and tear gas against protesters by the police sparked widespread outrage, with criticism emerging across the country.

Several celebrities also condemned the action and voiced their support for the protesting students.
