New Delhi: Activist Sonam Wangchuk is scheduled to leave Medanta hospital on Monday and will make a stop at Rajghat to pay respects to Mahatma Gandhi before returning to Ladakh, his team said.
Wangchuk, who has been recuperating at the Gurugram facility after ending a 26-day hunger strike late on Friday, is anticipated to be discharged at about 11:30 am on Monday, PTI reported.
Following his release, he will proceed to Rajghat and then depart for Ladakh.
He had earlier visited Rajghat on June 28 to honour Mahatma Gandhi before beginning his indefinite fast at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, an action taken to back students alleging irregularities in the NEET exam.
Wangchuk joined the protest on June 28 and continued his indefinite fast for 26 days. On July 18 he was moved forcibly to Safdarjung Hospital, where he said he felt as if he were being held in detention.
After a Delhi High Court order, Wangchuk was transferred to the hospital in Gurugram.
The 36-day demonstration, organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), concluded on Saturday following the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan as education minister. The protest had commenced on June 20.
