Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is set to travel to New Delhi on August 6 to lead a two-day investment roadshow organised by the state’s Industries Department on August 7 and 8, as the Odisha government intensifies efforts to attract high-value industrial investments.

The high-level delegation will include Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, Chief Secretary Anu Garg and other senior officials. Majhi is expected to return to Bhubaneswar on August 8 or 9.

The outreach forms part of Odisha’s sustained campaign to position itself as a preferred investment destination through domestic roadshows following the success of the Utkarsh Odisha initiative. It builds on earlier engagements in cities such as Hyderabad, Kolkata and Gujarat, where the state secured significant proposals. During a three-day Gujarat visit earlier this year, for instance, Odisha attracted investment intents worth Rs 48,330 crore across multiple sectors, with potential to generate over 67,000 jobs.

Officials said the New Delhi programme will highlight the state’s strengths in infrastructure, mineral resources, skilled workforce, progressive policies and ease of doing business while encouraging companies to expand existing operations or set up new projects.

On August 7, the state government, in association with ASSOCHAM, will organise Odisha Food Pro 2026 at Hotel The Oberoi in New Delhi. The sector-focused event will bring together leading food processing companies, investors, MSMEs, industry associations and experts to showcase Odisha’s diverse agricultural and marine resource base, processing ecosystem, logistics connectivity, policy framework and opportunities across the farm-to-market value chain. Activities will include industry experience sharing, the release of a knowledge report on the food processing sector’s potential in the state, sharing of investment MoUs and direct interactions between state leadership and prospective investors. The aim is to draw capital into processing, packaging, cold chain and other value-added activities while opening wider markets for Odisha’s agricultural, marine and food products and connecting local enterprises with national and global value chains.

Beyond food processing, the outreach will emphasise developing deeper industrial value chains around Odisha’s major anchor investments. On the same day, state leaders will hold one-on-one interactions with industry leaders and focused group meetings with major industrial groups and their ecosystem partners. Discussions will cover opportunities in stainless-steel downstream manufacturing as well as chemicals and petrochemicals, while reviewing progress on existing and proposed investments. Particular attention will be given to identifying implementable projects, strengthening local supplier networks and accelerating the grounding of announced investments.

On August 8, the delegation will visit a manufacturing facility in Greater Noida to study advanced manufacturing practices and explore collaboration possibilities in white goods and consumer appliances. It will then participate in three focused industry roundtables in Greater Noida. The first will engage leading aluminium downstream companies on opportunities for greater value addition in products, components and engineering applications. The second will involve textile and apparel firms, highlighting prospects linked to Odisha’s expanding textiles, apparel and technical-textiles ecosystem, supported by a growing skilled workforce, industrial infrastructure and policy incentives. The third, organised with the Indian Industries Association, will bring together engineering manufacturers and MSMEs to discuss opportunities arising from the state’s large metals, mining, power and manufacturing base, covering industrial components, fabrication, capital goods, clean-energy equipment and stronger local vendor networks.

The New Delhi roadshow aligns with Chief Minister Majhi’s emphasis that Odisha’s investment promotion efforts support the state’s long-term development goals and Vision 2036 roadmap.

Since the present government assumed office, it has approved 477 projects with a total investment potential of nearly Rs 9.5 trillion and employment potential of around 600,000 people; of these, 152 projects involving over Rs 3.11 trillion have already moved into grounding or inauguration stages.

Recent High-Level Clearance Authority approvals have spanned green energy, pharmaceuticals, advanced manufacturing, steel, railway equipment and rare earth value addition.
